Ingredients
  

For the Casserole
  • 1 bunch Swiss chard washed and chopped
  • 4 medium Yukon Gold potatoes peeled and sliced
  • 1 medium Onion sautéed
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 cup Cream or substitute with vegetable broth
  • 1 cup Shredded Gruyère cheese or favorite melting cheese
  • 2 large Eggs
For the Seasoning
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 1 pinch Nutmeg

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the potatoes by washing, peeling, and slicing them into thin rounds.
  3. Sauté the Swiss chard in a large skillet over medium heat with a drizzle of olive oil until wilted, about 5-7 minutes.
Layering
  1. Layer the bottom of a greased casserole dish with half of the potato slices.
  2. Add the sautéed Swiss chard evenly over the potato layer.
  3. Sprinkle half of your cheese on top of the chard layer.
  4. Repeat layering with the remaining potatoes followed by more Swiss chard and finish with the rest of the cheese on top.
Baking
  1. Pour a mixture of cream or milk over the entire casserole.
  2. Bake at 375°F for about 40-45 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  3. Cool slightly before serving to let everything set beautifully together.
Garnishing
  1. Optional: Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or thyme.
