- In a small pot, mix sugar and 3/4 cup water, then bring to a boil. Lower the heat and let it simmer without stirring until the sugar dissolves, about 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from heat, add the black gel food color, and let it cool.
- In a large pitcher, mix the lemon juice, cooled sugar syrup, and 4 cups of cold water. Serve over ice.
