Ingredients
  

For the Pudding
  • 2 cups whole milk for a rich and creamy texture
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar sweetens the pudding perfectly
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch thickens the pudding
  • 4 large egg yolks adds depth and creaminess
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract opt for pure vanilla extract
For Assembly
  • 4 ripe bananas sliced
  • 1 box vanilla wafers for layering
For Topping
  • 1 cup heavy cream whipped
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar to sweeten the whipped cream

Method
 

Prepare the pudding
  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together milk, sugar, and cornstarch over medium heat until the mixture thickens and bubbles gently. This should take about 10 minutes.
Add the flavor
  1. Once thickened, remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Allow it to cool slightly while you prepare the other ingredients.
Whip the cream
  1. In a large bowl, whip heavy cream until soft peaks form.
Fold together
  1. Gently fold the whipped cream into your cooled pudding mixture until fully combined.
Layer the ingredients
  1. In a trifle dish or individual cups, layer vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and the creamy pudding mixture. Repeat these layers until you reach the top.
Chill before serving
  1. Cover your layered masterpiece with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (or overnight).
