Ingredients
  

Beef Marinade
  • 1 pound ground beef preferably lean
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce low sodium recommended
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar packed
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger grated
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
Rice and Toppings
  • 2 cups jasmine rice or any preferred rice
  • 4 green onions sliced for garnish
  • 1 cup kimchi for serving
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds for garnish

Method
 

Prepare the Beef
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Let the beef marinate for at least 10 minutes while preparing the rice.
Cook the Rice
  1. Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook according to rice cooker instructions or on the stovetop.
Cook the Beef
  1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook for about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart, until fully cooked.
Serve
  1. Serve the cooked beef over a bed of rice. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve with kimchi on the side.

Notes

For a spicier version, add gochujang (Korean chili paste) to the marinade.
