Ingredients
  

Pasta
  • 12 oz penne pasta
Ground Beef
  • 1 lb ground beef preferably lean
Vegetables
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 medium bell pepper chopped
Sauce
  • 28 oz canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
Garnish
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese grated
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped

Method
 

Cook the Pasta
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Prepare the Sauce
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion, garlic, and bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté until the vegetables are softened.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 15 minutes.
Combine and Serve
  1. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
  2. Serve hot, garnished with grated parmesan cheese and chopped parsley.
