- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, and ground cloves.
- In a larger mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and honey together using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs to the butter and honey mixture, one at a time, mixing until smooth after each addition.
- Pour in the orange juice and add the grated orange zest to your batter, mixing on low speed until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet batter, mixing on low speed just until combined.
- If using, fold in the crystallized ginger gently with a spatula.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
