Donut Preparation
- In a deep bowl, combine the lukewarm milk, yeast, vanilla sugar, and caster sugar. Mix well and let the mixture rest for 5 minutes.
- Add the vanilla cream and mix until smooth. Gradually add the beaten egg while continuing to mix. Then add the butter, flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix everything together until a dough forms and knead for 10-12 minutes. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, until doubled in size.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured work surface and roll it out to a thickness of 1.5 cm.
- Using a pizza cutter or knife, cut the dough into pieces, spacing them slightly apart. Then let the dough rise for 30 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.
- Heat a layer of sunflower oil in a frying pan over medium heat (175°C). Fry the vanilla donuts until golden brown on both sides. Drain the donuts on a paper towel.
- If you like, you can also coat the vanilla donuts in granulated sugar before serving.

Notes
These donuts can also be customized by adding chocolate chips or nuts to the dough or swapping out the vanilla cream for a flavored alternative.
