Ingredients

Marinade
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 pounds flank steak or skirt steak
Toppings
  • 1 cup fresh cilantro chopped
  • 1 cup onion diced
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 cup avocado sliced
  • 8 small corn tortillas

Method

Marinate the Steak
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine orange juice, lime juice, soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, oregano, black pepper, and salt to create the marinade.
  2. Place the flank steak in a resealable bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
Grill the Steak
  1. Preheat the grill to high heat.
  2. Remove the steak from the marinade and let excess marinade drip off.
  3. Grill the steak for about 5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.
  4. Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing against the grain.
Serve
  1. Serve the sliced carne asada on warm corn tortillas topped with cilantro, onion, salsa, and avocado.
