Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup salted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp fresh sage, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg beaten with 1 tbsp water for egg wash

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour and salt. Make a well in the center; add melted butter, eggs, honey, and the yeast mixture. Mix until combined.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl and cover; let rise for about an hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Punch down the dough, divide it into equal pieces, shape into rolls, and place on a greased baking sheet.
  5. Brush tops with egg wash. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  6. While warm, slather additional sage honey butter on top.
