Easy to prepare, these gyros provide a delightful culinary experience right in your home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 3 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 fresh pita breads
  • 1/2 cup tahini
  • 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Water as needed for consistency

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix yogurt, olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, salt, and pepper. Add chicken thighs, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best flavor.
  2. Heat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Place marinated chicken on the baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 25-30 minutes until cooked through and slightly charred.
  4. While chicken bakes, mix tahini with lemon juice and enough water to achieve a drizzling consistency.
  5. Slice the baked chicken thinly. Fill each warm pita with chicken slices, fresh veggies (like tomatoes and cucumbers), and drizzle generously with tahini sauce.
  6. Plate your gyros or serve on a platter with extra lemon juice on top.
