  • 28 oz canned crushed tomatoes

  • ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil salted water and cook the pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water before draining.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil, onions, and garlic. Sauté until soft and fragrant, about 3 minutes.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 15 minutes until thickened.
  4. Add drained pasta shells to the sauce, mixing gently while adding reserved pasta water as needed for consistency.
  5. Top with fresh basil before serving. Optionally sprinkle with grated cheese.
