  • 1 cup sliced almonds
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until smooth. Add the egg and vanilla extract; mix well.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl; gradually add to the butter mixture until fully incorporated.
  4. Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  5. Toss fresh cherries with sliced almonds in a separate bowl and spread them over the crust.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool completely before slicing into squares.
