Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter (cold, cubed)
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 cups apples (peeled and sliced, preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add egg and combine. Press two-thirds of this mixture into the bottom of the dish.
  3. Toss apples with lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon in another bowl until coated.
  4. Spread the apple mixture over the crust and top with remaining crumb mixture.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
  6. Allow to cool before cutting into squares. Serve warm if desired.
