  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Oil for frying (approximately 1 cup)

Instructions

  1. Wash and slice the green tomatoes into half-inch thick rounds.
  2. Set up a breading station with buttermilk in one bowl and a mixture of flour, cornmeal, salt, pepper, and cayenne in another.
  3. Dip each tomato slice into the buttermilk and dredge it in the flour mixture until fully coated.
